Unlike most of the citizens in my city who live in the apartments, my family and I live in a house. It is situated far from the center of the city, but there is a bus stop right near our house and getting to the nearest underground station takes no more than ten minutes.

We have a two-storied house and have 5 rooms. My mother says that such a house was her dream that came true. And I have no objections. I really love this place.

First of all, we all have our own bedrooms with beautiful furniture, lots of space and large windows. I adore watching the city lights out of the window. I have an enormous wardrobe and a big wooden table to study.

What is more, we have a very big kitchen. My mother loves cooking and sometimes we help her with it. We sit in the kitchen, turn on the radio, talk and cook. The kitchen has all the necessary equipment to make the process of cooking easier: a deep sink, cupboards, a frig, a gas-stove - everything that may be useful.

Also we have a living room where we watch TV and gather all family members on important occasions. In the living room we have a big cozy sofa where my parents like to sit, but I adore the rocking chair where I can read. By the way, we have a book case, where I and my father collect our favorite books.

How can I not love this amazing house?

My parents got married in 1983 when the Soviet Union still existed. As you know, at Soviet Union times almost all young couples were given flats free of charge , which looked absolutely similar . The same happened to my parents. They were given a three-roomed flat in one of the sleeping quarters of our town. But my mother tried to make our flat unlike the others.
There are three rooms, a hall, a kitchen, a bathroom, a toilet and two balconies in my flat. When you enter my flat, you appear in a long hall where you can find a set of wardrobes and a big mirror .
On the right hand there is a kitchen . Our kitchen is not very big but it is very cozy . There you can find all the appliances you need in a modern kitchen. There is a fridge , a gas cooker , a microwave oven , a food processor , a mixer , a coffee maker and so on. Also there is modern furniture, a kitchen table and four chairs. The walls are decorated with embroidered pictures. There is a big window in the kitchen and that’s why this room is always full of sunlight. My family likes to spend time in the kitchen because it is the warmest and the most comfortable place in my flat.
Going along the hall, you will enter a living room (also on the right hand). This room is my father’s favourite. He likes to have a rest there, lying on the sofa and watching TV. There is a set of wardrobes and bookcases on the right side of the room. On the left side there is a sofa , two armchairs and a coffee table between them. Also there is a big TV set in front of the sofa. There is a big window and a balcony in this room. My mother likes plants very much and that’s why this room and the balcony are full of plants.
Next to the living-room you can find a children’s room . It used to be my sister’s and my room but as my sister lives separately, this room is mine now. This is the smallest room in the flat but it doesn’t diminish its advantages . There is a wardrobe, a sofa, a bookcase, a desk with a computer on it and a dressing table . There is a fluffy carpet on the floor. There are posters on the walls and pot plants on the windowsill.
Our bathroom is painted in green colours. Our bathtub and a wash basin are yellow. Our towels and bathrobes are of different colours, the rug is blue, so that’s why when you enter this room you have an impression that you are inside a rainbow .
The toilet-room is really very small. There is nothing except a toilet and a small cabinet next to it.
So, let’s move to the last room in my flat. It is at the end of the hall on your left hand. This is my parents’ room. There is a double-bed , two bedside cabinets and a big wardrobe in this room. It is painted in warm colours and it is always a pleasure to rest there, reading a book or watching TV, which is on the wall. There is the second balcony in this room.
As they say, “My home is my castle”. So my home is a real castle for me and I don’t want to have another one.

Моя комната

Должен сказать, мне повезло, что у меня есть своя комната. Самые важные для меня вещи – компьютер и DVD-плейер, которыми я пользуюсь чаще всего. В комнате также есть кровать, шкаф с одеждой и книжный шкаф, где я храню свои учебники и прочие важные для меня вещи.

Наша кухня

Пришло время описать кухню. Эта комната очень светлая и уютная. В ней есть большой обеденный стол, за которым мы часто встречаемся за завтраком и ужином. В кухне есть телевизор, поэтому это настоящая комната.

Удобства

The house I live in

My home

I would like to tell you about the house where I live together with m y family. It’s a modern building and it is twelve storeys high. Our apartment is on the top floor, so we use an elevator to get there. I should say that the apartment is quite spacious but at the same time cosy.

Describing my home

The flat has got three rooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. The living-room is the largest one with a sofa, wall units and two big comfortable armchairs in it. There is also a small coffee table between the armchairs. The floor is covered with a soft carpet. It’s the room where our family and friends get together. We usually watch TV there, play games or just chat and rest.

My parents’ bedroom

My parents’ bedroom is much smaller. There is a double bed with bedside cabinets and a wardrobe in the room. And, surely, it’s important to mention a dressing table with a mirror where my mom spends some time every morning putting make up and getting dressed.

My room

I must say I’m lucky to have my own room. The most necessary things for me there are my computer and DVD-player which I use most. There is also a bed, a wardrobe and a bookcase where I keep my textbooks and other important stuff.

Kitchen

The last place to describe is the kitchen. It’s very light and comfortable with a beautiful dining set in it. We meet there quite often when having breakfast or dinner. We’ve got a TV in the kitchen, so it’s like a real room.

Conveniences

We have all modern conveniences in our apartment such as gas, central heating, hot and cold running water. We also have modern electric appliances: a microwave, a washing machine, a vacuum-cleaner and others.

Conclusion

In conclusion, I want to say that I adore my apartment. Wherever you are it’s always pleasant to come back home where you can feel the atmosphere of love, friendship and understanding. That is why my home is my castle.

We have a nice flat in a new block of flats. Our flat is on the fourth floor. It has all modern conveniences: central heating, gas, electricity, cold and hot water, a lift and a chute to carry rubbish down There are three rooms, a kitchen, a bathroom and a hall in our flat.

The living-room is the largest and most comfortable room in the flat. In the middle of the room we have a square-table with six chairs round it. To the right of the dinner-table there is a wall-unit which has several sections: a sideboard, a wardrobe and some shelves. At the opposite wall there is a piano and stool before it. Between the two large windows there is a little table with a colour TV set on it. Near the TV set there are two cosy armchairs. A small round table, a divan-bed and a standard lamp are in the left-hand corner. This small table is for newspapers and magazines. My father is used to having a rest sitting on this divan-bed reading books, newspapers, magazines or watching TV.

The bedroom is smaller than the living-room and not so light as there is only one window in it. In this room there are two beds. An alarm-clock and a small lamp with a pink lamp-shade are on the table. In the left-hand corner there is a dressing-table with a big mirror.. In this room we have a built-in wardrobe with coat-hangers to-hang clothes on. There is a thick carpet on the floor and plain light-brown curtains on the window. The third room is my study. It is not large but very cosy. There isn"t much furniture in it, only the most necessary. It has a writing-table and an armchair before it. In the right-hand corner there is a bookcase full of books, magazines and newspapers. A small table with a radio is standing in the left-hand corner. Near it there is a sofa with some cushions. In my opinion, the study is the best room in our flat.

But the warmest place in our flat is the kitchen, I think — the place where the whole family gathers every evening not only to have supper together, but also to speak and rest. I like the English proverb: "My home is my castle" because my flat is, indeed, my castle.
